Reminiscence....

So I saw this movie yesterday... "Three of us"... about a woman who is diagnosed with early stage dementia. It's about her journey with her husband to a village where she grew up.. and things unfold from there.

The story brings forth our need to reminisce certain moments in life. The need to hold on to memories... good and bad. To never forget the experiences that have shaped us into what we are today. The people who we met, those who stayed and those who were left behind.

What happens when this very aspect of nostalgia is threatned due to a condition like dementia...

At a tender moment in the movie the protagonist confesses to a childhood crush that she is not sure for how long she will remember him... to which he turns around and assures her that he will even if she can't.

Few lines from the movie..

Chand ne bola samundar se, tu ubalta hai mere pyar me..
Par aake kabhi mila nahi, bus yehi asaflta hai mere pyar me
Samundar bola yaar chand, milne ko toh mera jee bhi bahut machalta hai...
Lakin kya karu to mahine me tees baar apni shakal badalta hai

Makes me wonder.... what is worse

Forgetting everyone and everything when we leave
Or remembering everyone and everything when we leave
